Durée : 2h / semaine

OBJECTIF
This course encourages students to see themselves not only as future artists and designers but also as researchers, writers, commentators, curators, publishers and educators. They will acquire English language skills that will enable them to widen their knowledge of contemporary practice, enabling them to work in different contexts and to inhabit different roles and ways of producing culture.

CONTENU
Students will be introduced to collective and collaborative working models, with the view to finding the most effective ways of working together. Looking at contemporary artists, designers, collectives and collaborative groups who are of interest in the current cultural context, students will construct a body of research in the form of monographic works on various artists and designers. Drawing on existing material from books, catalogues, internet, video and printed documentation, students will then include material that they generate themselves, such as new interviews with artists and designers, their informed opinion and hearsay. It is anticipated that these monographs, ‘published’ by the students, will accumulate in the wider sense, as a compilation of research materials and presentations that take into account the context, educational relevance and their intended audience. Emphasis will be placed non-conventional forms of presentation using methods not normally produced in these contexts, including performative lectures, moving image, live streaming and conversation, performance, installation, games and so on.
